In the Allen Library

  1. Open the library catalog.
  2. Search the title and composer's name.
  3. Limit to the format you desire.
  4. Find a result for the piece you need.
  5. Use the location and call number to find the item.

In the Allen Library, the first letters of the call number indicate format:

Call Number Letters Format
MD CDs
MR LPs (records)
MO DVDs
MV VHS tapes

The following numbers indicate genre. Combine the letters above with the numbers below to browse for guitar recordings.

Example: 
MD292 = Guitar duet CDs
MR292 = Guitar duet LPs

Call Number Genre
125-129 Solo guitar
292-293 Plucked instrument duets
 465-469 Plucked instrument quartets
1037.4 Guitar concertos*

*Concertos with other solo instruments can also be found at this call number. Guitar is only one of the possible solo instruments.

Come to the Allen Library! Our listening carrels and listening/viewing rooms can play:

  • Your devices via Bluetooth, VGA, HDMI, AUX cable, Apple TV
